Auckland Typewriter Repair Showcase - Machines Made Functional Again
Below are some pictures and information about some of the many typewriters that have had mechanical servicing at the Clackers Clinic Auckland typewriter repair workshop in Onehunga. Most of these machines were unusable when they arrived but have become functional typewriters for writers in Auckland and across New Zealand. From stuck keys to the carriage not moving and from needing ribbon replacement to a full servicing, our local typewriter repair workshop has been working overtime to get serious New Zealand writers typing.

Recently Repaired Typewriters
Brother Typewriter Repairs

After Clackers Clinic repaired this charming portable Brother Deluxe 1510 it was bought by MOTAT and used for educating people about typewriter history.

After we fixed the automatic spacer on this yellow, portable Brother 762TR it typed like new.

Once the pivot points and segment of this Brother 750TR were flushed and typebars reshaped 'twas a sturdy little typewriter.
Olympia Typewriter Salvaging

Repaired Olympia SG3 - part of the 'Big Meaty Beast' series. She has been named Mabel.

Florence, as her new owner named her, was the first iteration of the Big Meaty Beast series. She was full of straw.

Olympia Splendid portable typewriters are perfect for all your breezy seaside summer dream typing needs and sell like hotcakes.

Another from the same portable, flat Olympia series. We love repairing italic script typewriters!
Typewriters Servicing for the Smith-Corona Family of machines

The many features of the SCM typewriters mean there is usually a lot to repair but the reward comes from hearing the automatic spacer rumble.

This Sears Citation, a repackaged Smith Corona typewriter, needed springs fixed.

This Smith Corona Clipper portable typewriter needed a lot of bent things unbent.
Remington Typewriters Repaired

This Travel-Riter Deluxe typewriter by Remington was typing like a dream after a few days tinkering.

This Remington Letter-Riter, after a quick service, became one of my favourite typewriters.

The massive, heavy standard typewriters like this repaired Remington International are for writers who choose typing comfort over appearance.

The Hermes Media 3. Behold her rolling curves of seafoam green!
Olivetti Typewriter Revival

This toothy Olivetti Studio 46 needed a catful of fur blown out of its moving parts.
Royal Typewriter Repairs

This Royal Quiet De Luxe left Clackers Clinic for a life of literary productivity.

After much reshaping of bent parts our patience paid off with this snappy little portable Royal 203 typer.
Imperial Typewriter Repairs

The big, standard, desktop Imperials such as the 66 and the 65 have an intricate ribbon drive system which usually needs unjamming. Luckily, they come apart with a snap and everything is easy to access.

These charming Imperial Good Companion portable typewriters often have a bent arm underneath the ribbon guide.
More Vintage Machines Rescued in Auckland

Here is a Wedgefield 100 which needed some alignment adjustment among other things.

This Adler Gabriele 25 was one of my personal typewriters until an Auckland customer fell in love with her.

I was tempted to keep this portable Erika typewriter all to myself as she typed perfectly after servicing.

This Maritsa 11 was a quirky little portable typer with a happy, toothy grin.

Portable Brother typewriters often type better in futuristic, Autumnal orange.

After a thorough flushing out of its segment this portable Silver Reed typewriter became a productive member of the Typosphere.

This solid and reliable Scheidegger Typomatic TMS, a form of Adler, was rescued by Clackers Clinic.

The detent roller and some other things needed repairing on this Consul 1511 typewriter. I have made a video about it and there is a link to my video channel on the homepage.
